Groupe Riverin -- which includes Inter-Cité and its subsidiaries (Sablière Drapeau (1986), Pavage du Golfe and Carrière et Transport Napoléon Brochu) -- is a group of companies that got its start in the 1920s when Jean-Joseph Riverin was working as a general contractor. Since then, the group has enjoyed considerable growth and is currently managed by two descendants of the original founder. The other companies in Groupe Riverin (Bétonnières d’Arvida, Almamix, Bétonnières de La Baie, Bétonnières Lac-Saint-Jean and Bétonnières du Golfe) specialize in producing ready mix concrete and prefabricated concrete products (Tuvico et Fortier 2000) and operate stone quarries in Quebec City (Carrières Québec) and the Saguenay region (Pic Construction).
